STUDENT LEADERS FELLOWSHIP

Confident. Capable. Self-Leading Young People.

The Student Leaders Fellowship is a selective, small-group leadership program designed to build observable capability over time.
 

Students strengthen confidence, responsibility, sound judgement, and the ability to lead themselves and others.

The Fellowship is selective. Places are limited.

Each cohort is capped at 10 and 14 students to ensure depth, accountability, and genuine leadership growth.

• Secondary school students (Years 11–13)
• Students currently in leadership roles who want to raise their standard of leadership

Capable young people demonstrating clear leadership potential
• Students preparing for prefect, captain, or senior leadership roles
• Young people ready to take responsibility and step forward

Students preparing for life beyond Year 12/13

• Duke of Edinburgh Award participants seeking structured leadership development

• Our team are registered independent Duke of Edinburgh Award leaders

Development is assessed through participation, reflection, and demonstrated leadership behaviour over time.

  • Orientation half-day (in-person)

  • Mid-term full-day leadership intensive

  • Fortnightly 90-minute leadership sessions

  • End-of-program leadership showcase

In-person fellowship (flagship program)

  • Sunshine Coast North (Noosa - Marcoola)

  • Sunshine Coast South (Maroochydore - Caloundra)

  • Maximum 14 students per cohort

  • Fellowship investment: $2000 per student

Online fellowship (flexible delivery)

Cohorts Available – Term 2 & 3 2026

  • Open to all regions

  • Maximum 10 students per cohort

  • Fellowship investment: $1400 per student

Designed for students outside the Sunshine Coast, Queensland,  Australia or requiring flexible access.

Aligned to the Future Leaders Academy Capability Framework.

Fellowship curriculum overview

Structured across two terms, designed to build capability progressively.

Term 2 – Foundations of Self-Leadership

Students build core leadership capability through structured learning and guided application.

Focus areas include:

  • Ownership and personal accountability

  • Decision-making under pressure

  • Communication and constructive feedback

  • Initiative and follow-through

  • Goal setting and disciplined execution

 

Students complete individual accountability tasks between sessions.

Term 3 – Applied Leadership

Students apply leadership in increasingly complex scenarios.

 

Focus areas include:

  • Leading small team projects

  • Conflict resolution and difficult conversations

  • Values-based leadership and integrity

  • Managing responsibility and expectations

  • Real-world leadership challenge project

The term concludes with a Leadership Showcase, where students present their applied learning.

Capability alignment

Development is reinforced through reflection, peer feedback, and observable leadership behaviours over time.

Fellowship facilitators

The Fellowship is led by experienced youth mentors and leadership practitioners with backgrounds in education, coaching, and real-world leadership environments.

Jethro Gilbert
 

Jethro is am internationally recognised leadership coach with over a decade of experience working with young people, schools, and community organisations across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.

He has designed and delivered structured leadership programs for hundreds of students, helping them build confidence, responsibility, communication skills, and the ability to lead themselves and others.

With experience in military service, humanitarian projects, and corporate environments, Jethro brings a calm, disciplined, and practical approach to leadership development — focused on accountability, sound judgement, and real-world behaviour.
 

As a parent, he understands the pressures young people face today and works closely with families to reinforce strong values, personal responsibility, and healthy leadership habits.

Fellowship cohorts are intentionally small to ensure each student is known, supported, and appropriately challenged.

Program Standards & Safeguarding

• Programs are independently delivered (not school-run)
• All facilitators hold current Blue Cards and operate under a Child Protection Policy
• Clear behavioural expectations apply to all participants
• Withdrawal policy available upon request
